# Enabling Automatic Project Backups

> It is good practice to enable *external* Project Backups prior to commencing work, using settings similar to these:

> - [ ] Perform backups every **5 minutes** (We can do *alot* of damage in 10)
> - [ ] Hourly backups for the past **8 hours** (Eight's a reasonable day. Isn't it?)
> - [ ] Daily backups for the past **7 days** (Don't *clog* your drive with Backups)
> - [ ] **Project backup location:** It is unwise to put your backup-eggs in the same basket as all-your-other-eggs. Target an alternate drive or volume from the one that contains your primary database(s). That's best.

> Resolve will create a new folder called *Resolve Project Backups* at your chosen location.
